Endorsing Cassie on her Expedition is the International Institute of Peace through Tourism, founded by Louis D’Amore.
In February of 2015, Cassie spoke at the IIPT World Symposium located in Johannesburg, South Africa in front of profound figures such as Nandi Mandela, Nelson Mandela’s granddaughter, and Martin Luther King Jr.’s Sister-in-Law, Naomi King. It was here that Cassie was honored as the ‘IIPT Ambassador for Peace’ for IIPT. Honoring the legacies of Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr., the goal of the yearly Symposium is to; identify strategies and best practice in creating productive, sustainable, peaceful and welcoming communities through tourism, culture and sport and to share experiences and insights in identifying the potential roles of tourism in reconciliation and socio-economic re-development of countries that have experienced conflict with the aim of building sustainable and peaceful nations.
Throughout her expedition, Cassie will be carrying the banner for World Peace as she meets with the Mayors, Skal Presidents (skal.org) and Ministers of Tourism of Nations throughout her expedition. It is here that she will present to them the Creo of the Peaceful Traveler in a form of a ‘Declaration of Peace’. She will be delivering this to each leader in front of students of local schools and she will be interacting with the students and discussing with them what their meaning of what peace is, and how they believe we can enhance our world through responsible tourism efforts.
